Indio, CA (June 28, 2017) - At around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, a big-rig collided with a charter bus transporting cheerleaders on the I-10.
The bus was headed eastbound toward Arizona when it was rear-ended by a big-rig traveling too fast to avoid hitting stopped traffic. The truck crossed the median, blocking the westbound lanes. The driver, Rene Aragon, was able to escape the vehicle before it burst into flames.
The bus driver, Manuel Valdivia, as well as three cheerleaders, all under the age of 13, were injured in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
