Costa Mesa, CA (January 8, 2017) - Just after 4:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, a silver Ford Mustang collided with an SUV while traveling the wrong way in the northbound lane on the 405.
The male driver of the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown whether the driver of the SUV passed away at the scene or later at the hospital.
The collision caused a fiery blaze which was extinguished by firefighters, leaving both vehicles mangled and charred.
Four northbound lanes were closed until around 8:00 a.m., causing traffic to slow to a crawl.
