This is referred to as a “delay in treatment,” and it can negatively impact your case. From your point of view, your injuries might not have been that bad, initially.  However, as time went by, your pain may have worsened.

From the insurance company’s point of view, your injuries must not be that severe.  Otherwise, why would you have waited so long to get treated?  The insurer may use this piece of information to lower the settlement that is offered to you.  If your case goes to court, the defense lawyer might use your delay in treatment against you.

If you are in an accident, it is best to see a physician right away.  You may have injuries you are not aware of.
