Victorville, CA (February 18, 2017) - Just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, a 2003 Hyundai Elantra was traveling north on Amethyst Road when it collided with a 1996 Ford Taurus at the intersection of Mojave Drive and Amethyst Road.

The Taurus had been heading eastbound on Mojave Road. Both vehicles were attempting to cross the intersection at the time of the accident. The Elantra was making a left turn in front of the Taurus when the driver’s side of the Elantra collided with the front of the Taurus. The vehicle that is believed to have had the right of way has not been stated.

Two 18-year-old men from Adelanto, the driver and rear passenger of the Taurus, suffered moderate to minor injuries. The front passenger was uninjured. Two children from Adelanto, a 12-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, both passengers in the Elantra, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their parents, Pedro and Gloria Basua, suffered moderate injuries and were hospitalized.

The accident is still under investigation.
