Pico Rivera, CA (September 26, 2017) – Around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, there was an accident involving three cars on the 605.

A motorist was driving recklessly in the carpool lane in his Camaro when he struck a Nissan and subsequently a Scion from behind. The Nissan burst into flames, trapping and killing all three passengers inside.

The driver of the Camaro and the driver in the Scion have both been taken to the hospital, the former with serious injuries and the latter with significant pain.

Update:

LAPD officer Edgar Verduzco, who received a broken nose in the collision, has been arrested in connection with the accident. He is currently facing charges of a felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

The driver of the Scion suffered only minor injuries.
