Chino Hills, CA (November 13, 2016) - Early Sunday morning around 1:20 a.m., a Volkswagen Jetta rear-ended a bus carrying the men’s basketball team from San Diego Christian College.
The car was speeding southbound on State Route 71 when it collided with the bus. It became lodged underneath the bus and the driver, Xujun Lu of Chino Hills, died at the scene. The car burst into flames shortly after the accident and the fire quickly spread to the bus.
The 19 passengers and driver of the bus were able to escape without any reported injuries. The basketball team was on their way home after a game against CSU Bakersfield.
