It depends on the severity of the brain injury.  As you can imagine, the worse the injury, the greater the consequences.

According to a study that researched patients who were hospitalized from a traumatic brain injury (TBI), some of the issues they faced a year after their injury included memory loss, impaired problem solving and difficulty controlling anger, stress and emotions.  Many of these patients also had trouble performing their jobs.

The Brain Injury Association of America states that a traumatic brain injury can result in a variety of “functional changes affecting thinking, language, learning, emotions, behavior, and/or sensation.” TBI can lead to epilepsy and is believed to increase the risk for Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.

If your brain injury was caused by someone else’s negligence, such as in a car or truck accident or motorcycle crash, you may be able to recover compensation.  For more information, contact a California brain injury attorney from our office at (800) 989-6385.
