Did you know that children are more at risk of being involved in a pedestrian accident on Halloween than any other time of year?

According to researchers, children are four times more likely to be killed while walking on Halloween than any other night of the year. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in educating their children on how to reduce the risk of being injured in a Southern California pedestrian accident.

Here are some safety tips:

  • Young trick-or-treaters should be educated on how to cross streets safely. They should be instructed to cross at corners and use all traffic signals and crosswalks.
  • Children should use sidewalks and paths at all times. Parents may want to plan their kids’ trick-or-treat route that includes the least amount of street crossings as possible.
  • If your child is under the age of 12, make sure he or she is accompanied by a responsible adult. Proper adult supervision can be the difference between life and death.

No matter the precautions you take, not all pedestrian accidents can be avoided.  If you or someone you know has been injured in a pedestrian accident, you should contact one of our experienced Los Angeles personal injury attorneys at Steinberg Injury Lawyers at 1-800-350-8888.
