Desert Hot Springs, CA (August 8, 2017) - At around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a man was riding his horse across Palm Drive and Desert Springs Roadway when the horse was clipped by a Sunbus.

The horse darted across the road and was hit by a Dodge Durango, and then another vehicle. It is believed the horse died after being struck by the Durango. The equestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries, but none of the vehicle occupants were injured.

A lack of reflective gear is believed to be the cause of the accident, but it remains under investigation.
